Diaz was fatally shot during a routine traffic stop on Tamiami Trail, leaving his family, friends, and the entire community in shock and mourning.
The incident began when Diaz pulled over a white pickup truck driven by 24-year-old Andrew Mostyn Jr. at the Chevron gas station. Without warning, Mostyn allegedly grabbed a rifle and shot Diaz, who was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
Diaz was a beloved member of the community, known for his kindness, compassion, and commitment to serving and protecting the people of Charlotte County. He was a devoted family man and a loyal friend, and his passing has left a tremendous void in the lives of those who knew him.
