Tragic Loss: New Milford High School Student Will Neeb Dies in Car Accident
A devastating car accident on Monday, December 16, 2024, claimed the life of 16-year-old Will Neeb, a student at New Milford High School. The accident occurred around 8:00 p.m. on Pickett District Road.
Will Neeb was an athletic student who excelled in golf and hockey. He was a CT Division 1 High School golf champion and a valued member of the New Milford Green Wave Ice Hockey team. His passion for sports and his dedication to his teams were an inspiration to those around him.
According to the New Milford Police Department, the accident is still under investigation. The police reported receiving calls about a vehicle collision near 200 Pickett District Road at 8:09 p.m. on Monday. Upon responding to the scene, officers found a seriously damaged GMC Acadia off the road and through a fence.
Sadly, Will Neeb, the 16-year-old driver, was pronounced dead at the scene. The New Milford Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Team is currently investigating the accident.
Community Comes Together to Mourn the Loss
A memorial service was held on Tuesday afternoon at the scene of the incident, where teammates, coaches, and supporters paid their respects to Will Neeb. The New Milford Green Wave Ice Hockey team organized the memorial, with many students wearing Green Wave Ice Hockey gear and holding hockey sticks.
As a tribute to their fallen teammate, the students placed their hockey sticks on the fence, each stick bearing messages for Will Neeb and his hockey jersey number twelve. The poignant display was a testament to the impact Will had on his team and the community.
Condolences Pour in for the Neeb Family
The community has come together to offer condolences to the Neeb family, friends, and teammates. Local businesses, such as All Aboard Pizzeria and Ice Cream Parlor, have expressed their deepest sympathies, saying, “Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time.”
Funeral arrangements and Will Neeb’s obituary will be released by the family in due course. As the community continues to mourn the loss of this talented young athlete, his memory will live on through the countless lives he touched.
