Tragic Late-Night Crash in Davenport Claims Life of 30-Year-Old Riley Bennett
A devastating two-vehicle collision occurred in Davenport on Tuesday, December 17, resulting in the tragic loss of 30-year-old Riley Bennett of Rock Island.
According to the Davenport Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 11:12 p.m. near the intersection of East River Drive and Forest Road. A preliminary investigation revealed that an eastbound Kia Soul, driven by Bennett, lost control, crossed the center line, and collided with a westbound Chevrolet Trailblazer.
Bennett, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision, was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the Trailblazer, who was wearing a seatbelt, was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Davenport Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit is currently investigating the incident. The identity of the Trailblazer’s driver has not been released, pending family notifications.
