Devastating Highway Accident in Rajasthan Claims 7 Lives, Injures Over 35
A horrific collision on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway in Rajasthan, India, has left at least 7 people dead and over 35 injured. The accident, which involved a gas tanker and multiple other vehicles, sparked a massive fire that engulfed several cars and sent thick black smoke billowing into the air.
CCTV footage from a nearby property showed the fire spreading rapidly, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. Witnesses described seeing flames from nearly a kilometer away as emergency services rushed to the scene.
Rajasthan health department officials confirmed that 7 people had lost their lives in the accident, while more than 35 were injured. Police officials stated that the situation was still being assessed and that the death toll may rise once all vehicles have been thoroughly checked.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar visited the SMS Hospital, where the injured were being treated. Sharma spoke to administration officials and doctors, issuing directions to ensure proper treatment was facilitated. He also visited the accident site and spoke to police officials.
Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to the Rajasthan chief minister, taking stock of the situation. Sharma expressed his condolences on social media, saying, “Deeply saddened to hear the news of casualties in the gas tanker fire incident on the Jaipur-Ajmer National Highway.”
Jaipur Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph and other officials were at the scene, coordinating relief efforts. The Jaipur Police has issued helpline numbers for people to get in touch for inquiries or relevant information.
The accident has raised concerns about road safety and the need for emergency services to be better equipped to handle such disasters. The incident is under investigation, and officials are working to determine the cause of the accident.
