Tragic Accident Claims Life of 18-Year-Old Paullina Teen
A devastating accident occurred just outside Paullina, Iowa, in the early hours of Saturday, December 21st, resulting in the tragic loss of 18-year-old Carter Halverson’s life.
According to the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened around 12:10 a.m. when Halverson’s 2023 Chevrolet Malibu veered off 500th Street and entered the north ditch. The vehicle struck a driveway and rolled over at least once, ejecting Halverson.
The sheriff’s office received a 911 call from OnStar, reporting a possible collision near 5454 500th Street. OnStar’s system indicated that the vehicle’s airbags had deployed, and there was one occupant in the driver’s seat. Emergency services were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, responders found the car and Halverson, who was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. The accident remains under investigation, and no further details have been released at this time.
The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Paullina Police Department, Paullina Fire Department, Paullina Ambulance Squad, and the O’Brien County Medical Examiner in responding to the accident.
