Community Mourns Loss of Beloved Resident
The Pataskala community is grieving the loss of Scott Romine, known affectionately as “Decker Scott.” Romine, a well-respected local business owner and resident, passed away on December 16, 2024.
According to authorities, the incident occurred following a police pursuit that ended in the parking lot of a local Kroger store. The circumstances surrounding the chase are currently under investigation.
Romine was a prominent figure in the community, owning Frank Romei & Son Plumbing and having graduated from Granville High School. Friends and neighbors describe him as a complex yet caring individual who had a profound impact on those around him.
In the wake of this tragedy, community members are emphasizing the importance of mental health awareness and the need for accessible resources for those in crisis. “This is a tragedy on every level,” said a local campaigner. “If somebody is struggling, please seek help. You’re not alone.”

Friends, relatives, and community members are planning a vigil in Romine’s memory. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the family at a later time.
